Get to Know Your Friendly Neighborhood Boob Nerd

Hey there — I’m Mary Warriner, RN, IBCLC, and the proud founder of Boob Nerds — where lactation meets laughter and breastfeeding science saves the day.

I’m a registered nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, but more importantly, I’m a mom who’s been in the trenches of cluster feeds, mastitis (twice!), and late-night exhaustion tears that could fill the sea like Alice in Wonderland’s puddle of emotions. I’ve breastfed three out of my four amazing kids — my fourth was adopted through foster care, and our family’s journey has taught me that every feeding story is unique and worth celebrating.

I even managed to breastfeed twins for a full year (one started in the NICU!) while constantly wondering, “Can I really make enough for two?” — and spoiler alert: yes, I could! I also nursed another child for over a year, and through all those experiences, I learned that the right support can make all the difference.

I was lucky to have a wonderful support system, and that’s exactly why I’m so passionate about being part of that support village for others. Every parent deserves to feel seen, capable, and surrounded by people who’ve got their back.

My love for helping families find success with breastfeeding started while working for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. That’s where I discovered how much I enjoy guiding families through the real-life science of feeding and watching confidence bloom.

I built Boob Nerds to blend evidence-based care, humor, and heart — because learning about breastfeeding doesn’t have to be awkward or overwhelming. At Boob Nerds, we’re proudly inclusive and 100% non-judgmental. Whether you’re nursing, pumping, combo-feeding, chestfeeding, or formula-feeding — you belong here. My goal is to make sure every family feels supported, informed, and celebrated exactly as they are.

When I’m not helping families, you’ll find me cracking nerdy jokes with my family, celebrating small wins with parents, or nerding out over the latest lactation research — all while proving that science and empathy make the best combo.
