Feed your baby if they’re hungry or wait if we’ve planned to observe a feeding.Don’t stress about timing; we’ll make it work either way.2. Have your feeding tools nearby.That means your pump, bottles, nipple shield, or anything else you’ve been using. We’ll nerd out over your setup and make sure it’s working for you.3. Gather your questions.No topic is too weird, too TMI, or too science-y. Write them down if you’d like so we can cover them all.4. Be comfy.If we’re meeting in person, wear what makes you feel relaxed. If it’s virtual, grab your phone, good lighting, and a spot where you can prop up baby.5. Tongue Tie, Lip Tie & Oral Function SupportIf feeding feels painful, stressful, messy, or like your baby is working way too hard, there may be more going on than “just a latch issue.”Tongue ties, lip ties, and buccal ties are types of Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTS). These tissues can sometimes limit the movement of the tongue, lips, or cheeks during feeding. When movement is limited, the baby may have trouble latching deeply, transferring milk well, staying on the breast or bottle, or coordinating suck, swallow, and breathing.At Boob Nerds, we look at the whole feeding picture. We do not just look for tissue.
